PRAYER FOR AGILITY

by Gary Kinsey © 2005

Dear Lord,

I know things take time in this world and beyond. It even took you
some time to create this universe, be it in seven days, as your good Book says, or in billions of years, as the good scientists claim. But it was time nevertheless that even you needed to get this show rolling.

My belief in you is nothing without my belief in your omnipotence. I can feel time is your most enduring joke, the biggest prank ever
pulled in the universe.

Didn't Einstein, one of your smartest souls, prove that time slooows down with speed? That, closer we get to the speed of light, slower the time ticks away?

So that, if an astronaut were to travel to a star millions of light years away, she would age only a few years or minutes (depending on the distance of the star), while thousands and even millions of years would pass away back here on earth?

Didn't two of your other smart souls, B. Rossi and D. Hall, prove this beyond any doubt with their neutrino-decay experiment on Mt. Washington way back in 1941? I'm praying to you with an eye on your hard facts.

So give my mind the speed of your love, O Lord!

Give me the peace and privilege of accomplishing within a split second the tasks that otherwise would take years and ages.

With your grace, I firmly believe that anything can be accomplished instantly, in the blink of a beautiful eye.

With your permission every project can be completed at one fell swoop, easily, effortlessly, without any blocks or delays. I admit no excuse or obstacle before your will.

Does the wind stop and hesitate and take a break when it blows over the oceans and the mountains?

Does the rain stop and meditate and second-guess itself when it pours on the cities and the meadows?

Let my creative mind similarly blow through obstacles and
rain down generously on anyone who would benefit from the nourishing fruits of my labor.

Let my daily work be an explosion of joy and celebration of your
agility rather than a drudgery and a push through muck of heavy inertia.

I pray for my batteries to be charged with your speed so I can finish the projects I start like an arrow that flies straight to the bull's-eye.

Make me swift and true like an arrow.

Make me life-giving and generous like the rain.

Make me light and fresh like the wind.

Let me serve your creation with your magnificent speed without which nothing is possible in this world and beyond.

Amen.
