Beverly Hills, CA -- Hollywood-based international painter Metin Bereketli, who is known for his striking DIVERSITY series of paintings, has concluded 2002 with a flurry of charitable donations in which his paintings were auctioned off to raise precious funds for worthwhile causes. Metin, who was born in Izmir, Turkey, says “it is important for all artists to give back generously to the community where they work and live.”
The first charity event that Metin participated in on November 2, 2002 with his “Diversity-1” painting was the 10th Anniversary Diversity Awards hosted by Multicultural Motion Picture Association (MMPA). The gala was co-hosted by two immensely talented Hollywood personalities, Leeza Gibbons and George Lopez. The celebrations included a silent auction and musical performances by renowned songstress Oleta Adams, and the sensational voice of David Benoit. Metin has also been selected the exclusive artist for MMPA’s Diversity 2003 wall calendar.
The second charity event that featured Metin’s paintings was “To Protect and To Serve,” a benefit night on November 8, 2002 for Los Angeles Police Union. The well-attended fund raiser brought together LA's finest and the Hollywood stars. The proceedings of the $5,000 a person black-tie event benefited the LA Police Protective League's Eagle & Badge Foundation. Among those participated were international superstars like Julio Iglesias, Chuck Norris, Shaquille O'Neal, Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, and Jon Voight as well as all the police chiefs and sheriffs from all across California.
Again on November 8, Metin participated in the New York City gala of Endeavor Global (a non-profit organization pioneering a new model for international development by fostering entrepreneurship in emerging markets) by donating his 5’ X 5’ original painting, "Diversity 4.” Edgar Bronfman, Jr., Vice Chairman of Vivendi Universal and CEO of Lexa Partners, was honored at Endeavor Global's Third Annual Fiesta de Gala, which featured entertainment by Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist Diana Krall.
The International Festival of Trees on November 23, 2002 was the fourth charity that auctioned off Metin’s paintings valued between $15,000 and $50,000. This festival was presented by The Foundations of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center and Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, benefiting the Emergency and Trauma Departments of both medical centers. Specifically for this event, Metin has designed a special “Tree of Life,” a unique Christmas tree adorned with Metin’s collectible icons and one-of-a-kind motifs.
The internationally acclaimed Metin Bereketli's contemporary works have been featured in museums, galleries, and exhibitions worldwide including the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Art Library, Sotheby's London, California Science Center, Exposition Park, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures Studios, Peterson Automotive Museum, Playboy Mansion, House of Blues, Pacific Design Center, and Hollywood & Highland.
His paintings have been featured on the sets of Friends, Frazier, ER, Becker, Felicity, Will & Grace, Chicago Hope, The Bold and The Beautiful, Passions, General Hospital, Party of Five, and several other TV and film sets.
